The Marion Police Department says they have located the victim in an apparent abduction that took place Monday afternoon. The man they say is responsible was arrested and is being held on several charges.
Police requested the public’s help in locating the woman after witnesses say they saw her taken at Certified Oil Station, 976 East Center Street, on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:26 pm. Witnesses say a subject, described as a heavyset, black male wearing a white t-shirt, got out of a black Chevy Impala and pulled a white female from a silver or gray Honda, forced her into the Impala, and fled the scene.
Investigators say the victim is a 23-year-old Marion resident and she has suffered minor injuries but is otherwise safe. She is acquainted with the suspect and investigators are describing the incident as a domestic situation.
Police say they arrested 24-year-old David Starks of Detroit, Michigan. Starks has been taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center and the Marion Police Department is requesting formal charges of Abduction and Domestic Violence from the Marion County Prosecutor.

The Marion Police Department is looking for public’s help in gathering information on a possible abduction that was reported on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at Certified Oil Station, 976 East Center Street, on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:26 pm. Witnesses say a subject, described as a heavyset, black male wearing a white t-shirt, got out of a black Chevy Impala and pulled a white female from a silver or gray Honda, forced her into the Impala, and fled the scene.
The female is described as 16-18 years old, long hair, wearing a white and gray hooded sweatshirt. She was also described as very petite.
The Impala was last seen going westbound on East Church Street near Clover Avenue. It may be missing a mirror from the vehicle.
The Honda, from which the female was pulled, also fled the scene. Police say no one connected to the Honda has contacted law enforcement, but they are obviously interested in speaking with the vehicle’s occupants.
Major Jay McDonald said in a media release that all available Marion Police Officers were actively investigating the incident.
