10th Annual Marion Campus Job Fair is Thursday

Marion Technical College, The Ohio State University at Marion, Opportunity Job Network – Marion County, and Clear Channel Communications have teamed up to host the 10th annual Marion Campus Career, Education & Job Fair on Thursday, February 21st, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Alber Student Center on the Marion campus.

The annual employment event attracts a wide variety of businesses, organizations, and educational institutions from throughout central Ohio and is once again free and open to the public.

Organizers anticipate over 75 vendor booths, featuring organizations with plans to hire on the spot, others looking to make career connections with potential attendees, and some, such as educational institutions, that are in attendance to help those at the fair gain needed experience and build a stronger resume to begin the career of their choice.

According to Ohio State Marion program coordinator of career services Will Smith, there is more value in attending the upcoming Career, Education & Job Fair with the mindset of looking at the long-term.

“The value of participating in a career/job fair is often not immediately noticeable, but rather, it can be the beginning point to examine career opportunities and the start of making and building contacts for the future,” said Smith.

The Marion Campus Career, Education & Job Fair is a great opportunity for participants to begin networking and interacting with representatives from area employers and educational institutions, explained Liles.

“I encourage anyone exploring work or education options to participate – it is a great opportunity to make a number of contacts at one event,” he said.

Another great aspect the partnership between Ohio State Marion, Opportunity Marion/ Marion Connections, and Marion Technical College and sponsoring such an event provides is the potential boost to economic development in the Marion area.

Liles also believes having Clear Channel Communications as a sponsor and a live radio broadcast will add to the excitement of this 10th anniversary event.
