Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest

MARMETDetectives with the METRICH / MARMET Drug Task Force says a traffic stop on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, resulted in the arrest of a man on weapon and drug charges.

Members of the METRICH / MARMET Drug Task Force stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of North Main Street in the City of Marion.  K-9 Kilo of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was at the scene and indicated during the search that drugs may be inside the vehicle. During the ensuing search, detectives say they located a firearm, scales, and a large amount of cash.

The driver, 26-year-old Johnny Thomas of Marion, was arrested for Weapons While Under Disability and Drug Abuse. The case is being forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutors Office for the filing of formal charges.

“The METRICH / MARMET Drug Task Force will continue to aggressively seek and find those that commit crimes in our community,” said Lt. Chris Adkins. “Anyone wishing to report criminal activity may call the TIPS line at 740-375-8477. Information may be left anonymously.”
