Marion Police Arrest Mother for Beating Young Child

The Marion Police Department says they arrested a woman for assaulting a child with a spoon.

On Saturday, March 16, 2013, Officers Matt Creps and Eric Marsh visited 569 North State Street to investigate a report of child who had been assaulted. The officers say they found a 4-year-old who had been severely assaulted. Police say the child had been repeatedly hit with a wooden spoon

The child was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested the mother of the victim, Makayla Horn, 28 years-old of Marion, and transported her to the Multi-County Correctional Center on initial charges of felony child endangering. The case will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
