The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) says construction is expected to start today (Tuesday, April 23, 2013) on State Route 95 on the east side of Marion. The construction will cause State Route 95 to be reduced to one lane in each direction between University Drive and Belvins Drive. The work is expected to be completed by June 15.
This stretch of highway has been identified as an area of concern on ODOT’s Highway Safety Program listing, which analyzes and identifies roadway locations and safety improvements with the highest potential for reducing crashes.
According to the data, in a three-year period there were 250 crashes along this section of State Route 95.
The safety improvement project will include new turn lanes, upgraded signage, striping, re-surfacing, wider shoulders, bike lanes, signal and drainage improvements from University Drive to Blevins Boulevard.
