The MARMET Drug Task Force says they arrested a woman for drug trafficking on Thursday. On April 11, 2013 at approximately 7:55pm, members of MARMET, with the assistance of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Marion Police Department, served a search warrant at 212 Clover Avenue in the City of Marion.
Officials say the warrant was issued after a several month long investigation into drug trafficking from the house. Two children were present during the drug sales, report police, and they were inside the house when detectives served the warrant.
Detectives say they seized 158 bundles of heroin with an approximate weight of 31.6 grams. The street value of the drug involved is reported to be about $3,160. $300 in cash was also recovered from the house.
“This case is especially troubling because children were present during the drug sales and the heroin was within the children’s reach,” stated Lt. Chris Adkins of MARMET.
Nicole Freeman, 24, was arrested for Trafficking in Heroin, Tampering with Evidence, and two counts of Endangering Children. The case will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
Marion County Children Services assisted detectives at the scene.
