Free Classes Offered to Improve Retirement Readiness

Retirement is a time of many changes and many choices. If you are newly retired, just contemplating retirement, or want good over-all information, the Marion County Council on Aging is offering programs they hope will help.  The series of three classes is called Retirement Readiness:  Money Matters.

These programs are scheduled for the fourth Thursday in June, July, and August at 1:30pm. All are free, but since space is limited, advance reservations are required.

The June 27, 2013 topic will be presented by Larry Havens, CPA with Holbrook & Manter. Havens will discuss when retirees are required, or not required, to file income tax forms.

Representatives from the Social Security Administration will be on hand on July 25, 2013 to discuss the various strategies for drawing your monthly social security, to maximize your monthly benefit.

The last class will be on August 22, 2013 with Bob Sanner, Assistant Vice-President of Fahey Bank, who will discuss information on establishing a working household budget, based on possible new income levels. He will give pointers to help participants make smart financial decisions during retirement years.

All classes will start at 1:30 pm and will include ample time for questions and answers from these three experts.

Call the Council on Aging at 740-387-0401to reserve a seat for any or all of these three informative sessions.
