Open House Offered to Answer Questions about Going Back to College

Marion Technical CollegeMarion Technical College (MTC) is holding a QuickStart Open House and information session on Thursday, June 13, 2013. Organizers say this program is a great way for people to “test drive” MTC and college in general. It is free and open to anyone who is interested in college, but may be apprehensive.

The QuickStart Open House will be held at MTC, 1467 Mt. Vernon Avenue in Marion, and runs from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

Participants will:

  • Get help in completing required paperwork, including Financial Aid Applications
  • Discover their own learning style
  • Complete a free career exploration assessment
  • Have access to academic advising and tutors
  • Create an individual learning plan that will map out the steps to earning their degree
  • Increase developmental skills in Math and English

The free QuickStart classes will run June 18 through August 8, 2013. While students will not earn any college credits, MTC says they will acquire valuable skills and information to promote their future success in college.

Information will also be available for free Transition English or Transition Math courses offered by ABLE this summer to help improve students’ skills before the start of Fall term.
