Police Arrest Prescription Drug Dealer

MARMETThe MARMET / METRICH Drug Task Force said they arrested a prescription drug dealers on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 after serving a search warrant. Officials say the search warrant was issued after “great proactive police work” by MARMET detectives.

At about 3:00pm, the Task Force, along with the assistance of the Marion Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant in the 240 block of Chestnut Street.

Inside the house officers said they located and seized prescription pain pills and cash. Jody R. Russell, 38, of Detroit, Michigan, was located inside the house and arrested.

“MARMET detectives continue to make great strides to crack down on the drugs dealers in Marion.  It’s very upsetting that so many come to this town with the sole purpose to sell their poison in our community,” stated Lt. Chris Adkins.

Russell was taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center on charges of Aggravated Trafficking and Aggravated Possession. Investigators say they seizes 266 Percocet pills, $2,055 in cash, and 4 grams of marijuana.

The investigation remains open and other charges may be pending. The street value of the drugs located inside the house was $7,900.
