Free Dive-In Movie to Wrap Up Saturday in the Park

Saturday in the ParkThe Lincoln Park Family Aquatic Center will show a “Dive-In” Movie on Saturday evening, August 24, 2013 in a partnership with the Saturday in the Park Festival. The Aquatic Center will also be offering special rates during the festival.

A giant, inflatable 20-foot movie screen will be set up within the pool area that evening with the movie “Despicable Me” shown at dusk. Prior to the movie, which will run starting approximately at 8:45pm, there will be a performance by local fire twirlers.

The “Dive-In” movie is the brainchild of Tim Granlee, owner of the Door Guys in Marion. Granlee said that his company purchased the inflatable screen and projection system screen so that his business could partner with other area organizations to help lower the cost of family-friendly entertainment at outdoor summer events in the Mid-Ohio area.

Classic Rock 95.1 FM is assisting the Door Guys by providing a massive sound system that is encased in a 20 foot long “Boom Box” which can be easily transported to area festivals and other outdoor events.

The dive-in movie is absolutely free of charge and viewers can enter the aquatic center after 7:30pm.

“The cost is zero,” explained Festival chairman Gary Rivers. “Germaine Ford of Columbus and Marion Goodwill covered the cost of the movie and employees for the evening.”

The screen will face the shallow end of the pool, allowing swimmers to simply watch the movie while enjoying the water.  With over 100 lounge chairs in the aquatic center, guests can also relax outside of the pool and watch the show.

Saturday in the Park and the Lincoln Park Family Aquatic Center have also announced that there will be special pricing for both the pool and the festival bounce rides this year.

Saturday in the Park, which has never raised its prices, will continue to be $1 per ride or $5 for an all-day pass.  The Aquatic Center will offer a special rate of $5 for anyone all day long.

In addition, there are new combo prices this year, so if you wish to swim at the pool and ride the inflatables at the festival, the combined rate is just $8.

“We wanted to set the price so that everyone could afford to ride the inflatables and enjoy a day of swimming at the aquatic center,” said Rivers. “I think we accomplished that.”
