The Party in the Park returns to downtown Marion this weekend and will feature local talent on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The entertainment has been coordinated by Marion’s Home Town Talent, a Facebook-based initiative, and all proceeds will go to benefit area veterans.
The second annual party is hosted by Army Navy Union Garrison 137 and is located in Busby Park at the corner of Center and Prospect Streets.
Teri Jones said that she and Brandy Gatrell started Marion’s Home Town Talent as a Facebook page with the hope of presenting a positive vision of Marion and to showcase “all the wonderful talent that we have here.”
Everyone performing at The Party in the Park is a local Marionite and has donated their time to support the Army Navy Union Garrison in their efforts to support local veterans.
There is no cover charge to attend the party. Food and drink will be available for purchase from the Army Navy Garrison.
In addition to the talent on stage, there will be various kids activities including face painting, air brush tattoos, games, and karaoke. Several booths will also be set up providing information for veterans and those with disabilities.
