The grand opening/ribbon cutting for the new Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing Technology Education Collaborative (RAMTEC), located on the Tri-Rivers Career Center Campus in Marion, is set for September 19, 2013. A business summit will be held at 3:30pm in the Auditorium, followed by the ribbon cutting at 4:30 and public tours through 6:30pm
RAMTEC will be the first training facility of its kind in the State of Ohio. High school and adult students will have access to an industrial training center that provides numerous industrial certifications including robotics, robotic welding, and CNC operation across all major platforms while working towards academic degree obtainment. RAMTEC will provide industrial robotics and advanced manufacturing skills training in partnership with the businesses and industries throughout Central Ohio and beyond.
Historically, career centers, technical colleges, and four-year colleges have provided parts of the answer. But officials say that now, through the collaboration of Tri-Rivers Career Center, Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University at Marion, the Marion area has the opportunity to offer the whole solution by partnering directly with business and industry to provide the critical proven industrial training and apprenticeship programs collaboratively.
The three schools, in partnership with companies like Honda, Fanuc Robotics, Lincoln Electric and Motoman Corporation, have combined forces to make RAMTEC a reality. Their goal is to “move at the speed of business and meet the training needs of manufacturers in Central Ohio.”
