Auditions Announced for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Marion Palace TheatreDirector Greg Patterson will hold auditions on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the May Pavilion of the Palace Theatre for the theatre’s winter production of the blockbuster musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Patterson is seeking cast members of all ages for this family-friendly show that humorously retells the Biblical story of Joseph. Adults and young adults age 12 years old and up will fill the character roles and children ages 6 to 11 years will be cast in the children’s chorus.

Those auditioning should come dressed in casual clothing and prepared to sing and dance.  Individuals wishing to audition for principle roles are asked to come prepared with two songs, a ballad and an up-tempo piece. Children ages 6 to 11 years will be asked to sing a chorus of a song of your choice.  Participants should enter through the May Pavilion doors. Please bring a list of any schedule conflicts for January-February 2014.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tells the Biblical saga of a boy blessed with prophetic dreams, his jealous brothers, Egypt’s Pharaoh, famine, forgiveness and reconciliation. Brought to vibrant life by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, this endearingly popular musical has charmed audiences around the world with its excitement, energy and engaging mix of musical styles—from county-western and calypso to pop and rock ‘n’ roll.

Performance dates for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat are Friday, February 21, 2014 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, February 23 at 2pm.  Tickets are $17, $22 adults and $12 for children age 12 and younger. The show is sponsored by Marion Community Foundation Mary H. Hollaway Fund and funded by the Ohio Arts Council.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Artistic Team includes Director – Greg Patterson, Assistant to the Director– April Short, Music Director – Dee Ehrman, Choreographers – Kim Bradshaw and Amanda Zucker, Set Design & Construction – Don Wolfe, and Producer –  Brad Bebout.
