John Mullins, Harding High School’s Telecom Digital Media Instructor/Director, has announced that Marion’s League of Women Voters’ Candidates Night is now available on Time Warner Cable’s Channel 18 and also on YouTube. The program was held at Tri-Rivers on October 29, 2013 and featured candidates for three contested races.
The Channel 18 telecasts may be viewed daily at 6:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. until the November 5 Election Day. Viewers may also go online any time for the YouTube video by visiting www.mcstv.org/video.html
Production of the video was handled by students from the Harding Telecom Digital Media classes under Mullins’ direction. Following the National Education Technology Standards, students collaborate on the setup, capturing, editing, and broadcasting of a variety of community events. Through these experiences, students learn the critical thinking skills involved in planning and managing projects, solving problems, and making informed decisions re the use of appropriate digital tools and resources.
Harding Telecom students are also responsible for managing broadcasts for MCS TV-18 (Time Warner’s Marion Area Public Access Government/Education channel).
