Charleston Place, Modern Woodmen Raise Thousands for Recovery

Members of the Marion Modern Woodmen of America chapter recently helped the business of Charleston Place to raise money for the Marion Area Counseling Center at the 2nd Annual New Leaf, New You Style Show and Luncheon. The event, held on September 29, 2013, raised over $6400.

The amount included $2500 matched by the Modern Woodmen’s home office through the organization’s Matching Fund Program.  The money will be used for those unable to afford residential treatment at the Foundations Recovery Center in Marion.

Foundation Recovery Center is a program of the Marion Area Counseling Center that provides all of the specialty and intensive services to adults who are chemically dependent.  The primary program is a 15 bed residential Halfway House Program for men and women who need a highly structured group living environment to achieve recovery.  The treatment provided, includes focus on drug and alcohol information and information on addiction and recovery skills, lifestyle supportive of recovery, individual counseling, and focusing on resolving issues that have been barriers to recovery.

The Matching Fund Program offers Modern Woodmen members nationwide the Modern Woodmen matches money raised up to $2500.  These fundraising projects contribute more than $6.5 million to community needs nationwide each year.

Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to connect through social activities and volunteer projects.
