Donation to Help Promote Local Engineering Programs

Rodney GroverRodney Grover, Senior Development Officer from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation (SME EF) presented Tri-Rivers Superintendent Chuck Speelman with a $5,000 check during his recent visit to RAMTEC. The money will be used to promote engineering through Project Lead the Way Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) curriculum, RAMTEC Ohio Camps and Tri-Rivers RAMTEC Vex Robotics League.

Grover has also recommended RAMTEC/Tri-Rivers to be a SME EF PRIME Site that will encourage more students to prepare to enter into exciting manufacturing careers. With this designation there would be funding through SME EF. The PRIME site funding will help Tri-Rivers Career Center fund summer manufacturing camps, offer scholarships and create unique advanced programming for students in the Welding, Engineering and Precision Machining programs.

The SME EF Marion Vex Robotics Qualifier contest has more than 40 teams signed up already for the January 22, 2014 event.
