Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 6:22am on Thursday, November 21, 2013 on Newmans Cardington Road, east of Claridon Westfield Road, in Richland Township.
A 2011 Cadillac CTS, driven by Charles E. Orewiler, 50, of Marion, was eastbound on Newmans Cardington Road just east of Claridon Westfield Road. The Patrol says the Cadillac was driven off the left side of the road and struck a tree with the left front corner of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled over and Orewiler was totally ejected.
Investigators say Orewiler was the only occupant and was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Marion County Coroner Dr. Marc Comianos and transported to Franklin County Morgue by Med Care Ambulance.
The State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Morrow Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
