Three Arrested in Marion Drug Raid

MARMETThe MARMET Drug Task Force says three men were arrested Friday afternoon following the execution of a search warrant. The warrant was the result of a long drug investigation that was spurred by complaints from the neighborhood.

The Marion Police Department Special Response Team (SRT), detectives from the MARMET Drug Task Force, and officers and deputies from the Marion Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office served the search warrant on November 1, 2013 at about 3:30pm at 282 ½ Windsor Street in the City of Marion.

Officials say that members of the SRT deployed a flash-bang grenade and multiple canisters of CS non-flammable gas into the apartment to force out the occupants.

The target of the investigation was Kevin Jackson, 22, of 282 ½ Windsor Street. Jackson was wanted for a Trafficking in Drugs warrant out of the Operation Revolving Door and new charges of Trafficking in Heroin and Obstructing Official Business.

Also arrested were Ricky L. Davis, 23, of 143 Dix Avenue, for Complicity to Trafficking and Shawn Horton, 32, of 279 North Greenwood Avenue, for a misdemeanor warrant for Assault.

“Today’s search warrant is another example of this community being fed up with drug traffickers,” said Major Bill Collins, MARMET Commander. “Time and time again, citizens of Marion have played an important role in standing up against drugs by providing valuable information on drug traffickers in their neighborhoods.”

“Law enforcement, working with the community, will continue to search out drug traffickers and we will put them in jail. If you are dealing drugs, it is just a matter of time until you are in jail,” Collins declared.

A Tec-9 semi-automatic handgun was seized in the search warrant.

All three suspects were arrested without injury to themselves or officers.
