There are lots of holiday activities planned in Downtown Marion this Saturday (December 7, 2013), including the annual Christmas Parade, Peanut Push, and a free movie at the Palace Theatre.
The day begins Breakfast with the WMRN Peanut Push, an annual fundraising event to benefit the Junior Service Guild’s Christmas Clearing House. Contestants will start pushing their peanuts (with their noses) at 10:00am on West Center Street just west of Prospect Street.
The Downtown Marion Christmas Parade will step off at noon. The parade starts near Greenwood Street and runs west down Center Street ending at the Palace Theatre. This year’s theme is “Honoring Veterans” and the parade will feature lots of floats with Santa headlining.
During the Peanut Push and Parade, APEX Church’s Kidz Center will be hosting free hot chocolate along with ornament and face painting. The activities will take place from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the corner of Center and Prospect Streets.
Following the parade, the Marion Palace Theatre will show a free movie. The movie “Elf” will be shown at 1:15pm.
