The Salvation Army in Marion has issued a request for food donations after a combination of issues have left their food pantry very low.
They report that they did not have a delivery from the regional foodbank this week due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. In addition, they say they are seeing more and more clients in need of food due to SNAP and unemployment benefits being cut.
The Salvation Army says that any donations will be greatly appreciated, but they are especially in need of:
- cereal
- canned veggies (other than green beans)
- canned fruits of all kinds
- canned meats (tuna, chicken, beef)
- frozen meats in 1 pound packages
- canned soup (other than vegetable or tomato)
The Salvation Army asks that you check the dates on items you bring from your cupboard because if it is outdated they cannot give it to their clients.
