Marion Campus Hosting Job/Internship & Education Fair

Job Fair 2014Marion Technical College, The Ohio State University at Marion, Ohio Means Jobs – Marion County, and Clear Channel Communications have teamed up to host the Marion Campus Job/Internship & Education Fair at the Marion Campus on Thursday, February 20th, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Alber Student Center on the Marion Campus.

This is the 11th year for the Campus event, but this year there is a new twist – a focus on internships – as well as jobs and college. The annual event attracts a wide variety of businesses, organizations, and educational institutions from throughout central Ohio. It is free and open to the public.

Organizers anticipate over 75 vendor booths, featuring organizations with plans to hire on the spot, others looking to make career connections with potential attendees, and some, such as educational institutions, that are in attendance to help those at the fair gain needed experience and build a stronger resume to begin the career of their choice.

“With the additional focus on internships, this is a great opportunity for the students of Marion Technical College and Ohio State at Marion to get experience with local companies while they are still attending college,” said Deb Murphy of Marion Technical College, who is deeply involved in the organization of the fair.  “This also gives them the connections that they will need when they graduate and seek employment. It’s all about networking on February 20th,” she adds.

Another fair organizer, Ohio State Marion program coordinator of career services, Will Smith, provided great insight for attendees. “My suggestion to those attending the fair is to be prepared to walk away with several contacts and maybe a job. Dress for success and polish your resume and be ready to sell yourself!”
