MARMET Drug Task Force officials say special reponse teams from three counties worked together to execute four search warrants this morning in the City of Marion. Four alleged drug dealers were arrested as a part of the raids.
MARMET supervisor Lt. Chris Adkins said that on Friday, March 7, 2014, at approximately 6:00 a.m., members of the MARMET Drug Task Force began briefing nearly 50 area law enforcement officers to conduct Operation “Take a Number”. Special response teams from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, Mansfield ASORT and Delaware Area Tactical Unit then converged simultaneously on four area residences.
Lt. Adkins said that all of Friday’s search warrants were a result of drug trafficking complaints from neighborhood residents. Heroin, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and prescription pills were seized during these search warrants. There were no injuries to officers or to suspects.
“People living in these areas are just fed up with drug dealers in their neighborhoods, and they are becoming very proactive in their tips to law enforcement,” stated Lt. Adkins.
Those arrested included:
- Deon Gale, 35, of 539 Jefferson Ave., for Trafficking In Drugs
- Allen Creagh, 33, of 464 Ballentine Ave., for Trafficking In Drugs
- Shalon Ford, 29, of 1090 N. Main St., for Trafficking in Drugs
- Michael Prather, 35, of 464 Ballentine Ave., for Permitting Drug Abuse
