ODNR to Stock Marion Lake with Rainbow Trout

rainbowtroutThe Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife will stock approximately 1,000 rainbow trout on Friday morning, March 28, 2014, at the north lake at Quarry Park in Marion. The stocking is part of the ODNR’s plan to release more than 98,000 rainbow trout in 63 Ohio public lakes and ponds.

This annual event has a daily catch limit of five trout per angler.  Access to Quarry Park is available by taking Marion-Williamsport Road to Hillman-Ford Road.

ODNR officials say the rainbow trout releases will take place across Ohio through May 16 and the stocking of these public lakes and ponds are excellent opportunities for families to fish together. Rainbow trout are raised at state fish hatcheries and measure 10-13 inches before they are released by the ODNR Division of Wildlife.
