The historic Marion Palace Theatre located in downtown Marion, Ohio welcomes celebrated musical theatre performers and Broadway veterans Melissa Giattino and Ron DeStefano in Two on Tap on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 2pm. The production pays homage to the lost art form of great Hollywood song-and dance pairings.
The pair, who could have walked out of a 1940s silver screen, shares the same type of chemistry and artistry of vintage couples like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Gorgeous vocals, exciting tap choreography and unique musical arrangements all take center stage in this fast-paced and fun-filled show. Classic songs by Gershwin, Mercer, Berlin and other Tin Pan Alley songwriters take audiences back in time, while also drawing in a new era of song and dance lovers from this dynamic duo’s fresh approach.
Patrons can expect to see Ron and Melissa perform exciting up-tempo show tunes such as “I Got Rhythm,” “Yes Sir That’s My Baby,” lush and moving ballads “My Romance,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” as well as old favorites, “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter” and more. Live music will be performed by a trio of professional touring musicians: David Snyder (Piano), Daniel Fabricatore (Bass) and Barbara Merjan (Percussion).
“Two on Tap is set to deliver an unforgettable performance at the Marion Palace to remind us why those famous dancing duos from Vaudeville and the Silver Screen continue to impress audiences of all ages,” said Bev Ford, Palace Theatre executive director. “With a graceful blend of razor-sharp tap choreography and a hearty dose of humor the resulting show is funny, heartwarming, contemporary and simply adorable.”
