Earth Day Celebration Set for OSUM

Ohio State University at MarionOhio State Marion will celebrate Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The campus community and the public are invited to share in a day long series of free public events/initiatives celebrating sustainability, recycling, and mother earth.

Activities during the day-long celebration include the following:

Opening ceremonies
Morrill Hall Auditorium at 11:00 a.m.

Panel Discussion
“Recycling and Why It Is Good for the Environment”
Morrill Hall Auditorium at 11:15 a.m.

A panel discussion led by Dr. Anna Willow; Ron Turner, director of facilities & maintenance; Maryjo Mundey, human resource director;  and Jeff Clark of Sim Bros., Inc.
A tree planting (north of Morrill Hall) will follow the panel discussion.

Eco-art vendors
Alber Student Center Gymnasium from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Vendors will be displaying and selling repurposed items.  Free pizza will be served between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. in the Alber Student Center lobby.

Earth Day Campus Campaign Spring Walk
Assemble under the Maynard Hall Portico at 1:00 p.m.
We will be walking along “Hope’s Walk”.

Recycling & On-Site Document Shredding
Marca will have an on-site document shredding truck just outside the Alber Student Center in student parking lot 1B.  They will also have a truck collecting electronics for recycling in the same location.

Paint Drop Off
Habitat for Humanity ReStore will have a paint drop-off located in the Morrill Hall loading dock.  Latex paint only, all cans must have original lids and original labels.
