The MARMET Drug Task Force stopped two vehicles on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 and discovered several guns and a large amount of cash. Three people were arrested as part of the stops.
Detectives from MARMET stopped the two vehicles at the corner of North Greenwood and Wilson Streets after learning that an occupant of each car allegedly had an arrest warrant out of Illinois.
Upon stopping the vehicles, detectives say the following firearms were located in one of the vehicles:
- Colt .223 AR15 rifle,
- Colt. 22 M4 rifle,
- Ruger .357 caliber Revolver
- Ruger .44 caliber Super Blackhawk Revolver
$5,470 in cash was also seized.
Aubrey Burks, 21, and Kierre Waterford, 23, both of Chicago, were arrested on charges of having weapons under disability and receiving stolen property. Waterford was also charged with probation violation for a warrant from Illinois.
James Pickrell, 28, of Marion, was also arrested on an unrelated warrant for failure to appear.
Burks, Waterford and Pickrell all were taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center to await formal charges. Investigation into this incident continues.
