Aqua Ohio, Inc. (Aqua) today announced that the company is bringing the first phase of 2014 Marion infrastructure improvements to a close. Improvements are designed to enhance three key aspects of water service for customers: 1) Reliability, 2) Service, and 3) Fire Protection in terms of pressure and access to hydrants.
“This round of projects represents more than $800,000 and we expect to invest another $2 million in this system by the end of the year,” said Aqua’s Marion Area Manager, Scott Ballenger. “Providing safe, reliable service to our customers is our focus everyday and continual investment is the key to assuring that reliability and safety.”
Key elements of this round of Marion projects includes:
- New Water Mains on the following streets: Decatur, Eckley, Mound, North Greenwood, and Patterson Streets,
- New company service lines installed for 139 area homes,
- Enhanced fire protection with locally improved water pressure and 13 new fire hydrants.
The investment in the Marion area represents a portion of the $30 million in Aqua Ohio’s planned infrastructure improvements during the 2014 construction season. This landmark investment represents a continued acceleration of system improvements designed to enhance both reliability and water quality for customers. The company invested $19 million in 2012 and $22 million in 2013 totaling more than $70 million since the company bought Ohio American Water in the Spring of 2012.
In 2014, Aqua Ohio plans to spend approximately $6.3 million throughout its Marion/Tiffin operating divisions, which includes city of Marion and villages of Caledonia, Martel and Prospect located in Marion County and city of Tiffin located in Seneca County.
