The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said shots were fired by a property owner in Prospect after several suspects allegedly broke into his building on early Monday morning.
On June 23, 2014 at 5:14am, the deputies responded to a building in the 100 block of North Main Street in the Village of Prospect for a report of a breaking and entering. Officials said that shots had been fired by the property owner who was on scene when the suspects were inside the building.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they took two males into custody, a 17-year-old male juvenile and an 18-year-old male. The third suspect, another 17-year-old, ran from the scene, but was located at a residence in the village. That suspect was transported by squad to Marion General Hospital for undescribed injuries.
Brenden William Gray, 18, of 3858 Green Camp Essex Road, Marion, was taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center on a charge of Breaking and Entering. The 17-year-old taken into custody on scene was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for a charge of Breaking and Entering.
The injured 17-year-old male remained in the hospital as of early Monday afternoon.
Major Aaron Corwin of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said they would not be releasing any further details regarding this incident.
