Government Closures for July 4 Holiday

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, City of Marion Departments will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2014. Due to closures on Friday, City Hall’s weekly early closure day will be observed on Thursday, July 3, 2014. Therefore, on July 3rd most offices in City Hall will close at 3:00 pm, with the exception of the Municipal Court and Utility Billing Offices which will close at 2:00 pm.

The following departments will operate as noted below on Friday, July 4th:

  • All offices in City Hall will be closed.
  • Sanitation crews will not work on Friday, July 4, 2014. Residents who normally have Friday sanitation service are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7. Sanitation crews will collect both Friday and Monday’s refuse on Monday.
  • Marion Area Transit buses will not operate on July 4, 2014.
  • The Marion Senior Center will be closed on July 4, 2014.

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

In observance of the Independence Day Holiday, all divisions of Marion Public Health will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2014. The closing will include the WIC office and the Environmental Health, Public Health Nursing, Vital Statistics and Administrative Divisions of the health department.

The Marion County Courthouse and Building will also be closed on Friday, July 4, 2014.
