The next meeting of 100 Women Who Care will be Monday, August 4, 2014 at 6:00 pm at the Barlow Center of the Women’s Club Home, 1126 East Center Street in Marion. 100 Women Who Care – Marion OH is a group of local women from all walks of life and varying financial backgrounds who are interested in supporting the community by contributing to Marion charities together as a group.
“With one donation we can make a difference,” said member Doris Schwartz. “With a combined donation we can make a huge impact.”
Here’s how the group works. Each member promises to make a $100 donation each quarter (or four times a year). With full membership, the group will make a combined donation to a local non-profit of $10,000 and total donations through the year of $40,000.
The non-profit receiving each donation is chosen by a vote of the members. The recipient of the group’s first donation was the Spirit of Hope Fund.
“We are excited for the day we reach 100 strong and are able to donate $10,000 to a deserving local charity in one evening,” said Schwartz.
Those interested in learning more about the group are encouraged to attend their next meeting. You do not have to make a donation at that point, but you can if you would like. Membership is open to all women in Marion County.
You can find more information about the group on Facebook or their website.
