Organizers of the Saturday in the Park Festival announced that children attending the event on Saturday, August 23, 2014 will be able to explore science with COSI’S Science Spot. Saturday in the Park will host 10 interactive Science Spot kiosks from 12p-4pm. Children, teens and adults can challenge themselves with a variety of hands-on science experiments and puzzles at no cost.
COSI, Center of Science and Industry, is a science museum in Columbus, Ohio, and features more than 300 interactive exhibits throughout themed exhibition areas. In 2008, Parents Magazine named COSI the #1 Science Center for families in the country. More than five million teachers and students have experienced COSI’s education programs. Now, 10 of their interactive Science Spot Kiosks will be available for Marion area children to experience at this year’s Saturday in the Park.
The Saturday in the Park Festival is in its 18th year of providing free and inexpensive games, rides and activities to Marion’s youth. This year will feature a dozen inflatable bounce houses and rides, a zip line, 10 COSI Science stations, a free children’s play area, costumed characters, two entertainment stages, car show, health fair, food vendors, over a dozen safety and police vehicles, a helicopter fly-in, and dozens of free games and activity booths. Also returning is NWA/SEW Wrestling.
Saturday in the Park is a non profit organization with a stated purpose of providing a safe, and inexpensive family event in Marion’s Lincoln Park. Proceeds from the event, after expenses, are used to help defray costs for future Saturday in the Park Festivals, as well as to help improve Lincoln Park.
