The Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) recently announced the winners of the summer promotion, Marion’s Amazing Treasures IX.
After validating all the playing cards returned to the CVB, prize levels were drawn and the winners for the 2014 summer promotion were:
- James Lemley – First prize winner with 20-24 validations
- Katie Shoaf – Second prize winner with at least 14 validations
- Jillian & JJ Slaughterbeck – Third prize winner with at least 8 validations
- Jabez and Jeanine Hoffman – Consolation prize winner chosen from all cards with 3-7 validations
“This year’s summer treasures fun has come to an end but many families are already asking what is in store for next year,” states Diane Watson, executive director of the bureau. “Our favorite part of the program is listening to the stories told by those returning their cards after a summer of discovery. It gives us food-for-thought when looking for treasures for the next card.”
The Marion Family YMCA donated a family membership as one of the main prizes for the summer promotion. The winners received a grand list of prizes from other Marion area contributors, including Wyandot snack box, bluefusion play, Marion Public Library items, Ohio State University items, Marion Children’s Services fun stuff, Marion County Historical Society and Harding Home as well as others.
The ultimate goal of the summer promotion was to offer participants the opportunity to learn a great deal about the treasures and history of Marion County. Participants traveled to each of the locations to collect the sticker or icon validation while sharing time with their family and friends.
This year’s Amazing Treasures promotion was brought to you by The Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau through sponsorships by the Marion Family YMCA, United Federal Credit Union, Storad Label Company, Perkins and Buffalo Wild Wings and The Marion Star. Additional information can be found on the CVB’s website, www.visitmarionohio.com.
The CVB is already working on a list of historical locations for the tenth year, the 2015 playing card. If you have suggestions, call the Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau at 740-389-9770.
