Marion Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

Marion Police DepartmentOn Sunday, September 28, 2014 at about 5:49am, the Marion Police Department received a call reporting a shooting at 611 South Prospect Street. Officers found that a male had been shot multiple times.

The victim was transported to Marion General Hospital and then flown to Columbus by helicopter. Police said that he was listed in serious condition as of Sunday afternoon.

Police developed Michael S.C. Slocum as the suspect in the shooting and his house was surrounded. Police said a search warrant was obtained and, while in the process of serving the search warrant at his home, it was found that the suspect was inside a nearby residence. With the assistance of the Marion Police Department Special Response Team, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the house was surrounded and the suspect surrendered without further incident.

Slocum, 27, of Marion, was taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center on charges including attempted murder.
