Director Clare Cooke has announced that auditions for “Christmas at the Palace 2014 – Through the Eyes of a Child” will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the Marion Palace Theatre main stage. All acts and ages will be considered for this family-friendly holiday show.
The production traditionally includes a variety of community members in choirs, dance numbers, instrumental ensembles and light-hearted, yet touching, scenes of the season. An accompanist will be provided for vocal auditions. CD’s are permitted. Those auditioning should enter through the front theatre doors.
The idea to present a community production was first envisioned by Ula Watts in 1982. The successful local production played before sold out crowds in the 1980s. When Ula retired, her choreographer of 20 years, Clare Cooke, took the reins to direct eight productions in 1990, 1992, 1994, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and again this year. Each uniquely original production, written and directed by Cooke, enlists hundreds of friends, neighbors and family members who delight audience members with song and dance acts which range from heart-felt and traditional holiday favorites to comical and contemporary numbers.
Performance dates for “Christmas at the Palace 2014” are Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 7 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $17, $22 adults, $12 children age 12 and younger.
The show is sponsored by Morral Companies & Central Ohio Farmers Co-op.
