Downtown Marion will host the Shoot the Loop Tailgate Party Car Show this Friday, October 10, 2014. It had originally been set for October 3, but was pushed back a week due to bad weather.
Located in the Marion City Parking lot on the corner of South Prospect and West Church Streets, registration will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday. Judging will take place from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. followed by awards at 8:00 p.m. Participants will then be able to shoot the loop from 8:30 on.
“Cars of all makes and models are welcome,” said Karen Herr, manager of Downtown Marion, “and Randy Allard will have his haunted ambulance there for kids of all ages.” Cost is $10 to enter a car, and the first 50 receive a dash plaque. All entrants also receive one raffle ticket and they can purchase more tickets at the time of entry.
Herr indicated Allard and Greg Holloway “have worked hard on gathering those raffle prizes, as well as a number of trophies to be awarded to participants.” Herr went on to say, “One of the things a bit different than our previous car show is that you don’t have to be present to win the drawing for the 50/50 cash and an Ohio State men’s watch valued at $75 donated by Carroll’s Jewelers. In fact, you can purchase tickets in advance from the Downtown Marion office if you are unable to come Friday evening.” Tickets are 6 for $5 and 15 for $10.
Proceeds from the Shoot the Loop Tailgate Party will be used towards the Christmas decoration fund.
Friday will also see the last Downtown Marion Market of the 2014 season. Running from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. every Friday throughout the summer, vendors set up in an open air market atmosphere on the sidewalks beginning at the corner of Main and Center streets near the Ohio State Bank and former PNC Bank locations and move west on Center Street.
