The Marion Police Department is investigating numerous counterfeit checks being passed in Marion and the surrounding communities. Officials say the checks have been passed since June 2014 with the most recent on October 7.
Police said the account numbers on the checks are not the ones for the issuing businesses. The numbers on the bottom of the checks are the same in every case (000017756, 044101745, and 100042021). Investigators are urging business to take some extra time and look for checks with these numbers.
Names that police said should raise suspicion are Brittany Cantrell, Brittni Hart, Justin Howell, Jennifer Whitacre, and Brittany Thomas. Please report to the Marion Police Department if you feel you may have obtained a counterfeit check.
