OhioHealth Names New Leader at Marion General Hospital

Bruce HagenOhioHealth has announced leadership changes at three of its hospitals including naming a new president for OhioHealth Marion General. The president’s position at Marion General has been open since John Sanders left OhioHealth in April of this year.

Bruce P. Hagen will take the reigns of OhioHealth Marion General Hospital starting January 12, 2015.

Hagen, currently regional executive and president of OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital and OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital since 2011, began his career at OhioHealth in 2003 as president of OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.

“Bruce’s excellent work at Riverside, Dublin and Grady demonstrate his understanding and sensitivities to the needs of local communities,” said Mike Louge, executive vice president and chief operating officer of OhioHealth.

“He excels at developing strong cultures and building relationships with associates and physicians,” continued Louge. “Plus, he has represented OhioHealth on the Marion General Hospital board in the past so we think it’s a very natural fit. As we were looking to fill this position Bruce actually raised his hand and asked to be considered. He sees it as a great next move in his career and we’re excited about the future of Marion General under his leadership.”

With Hagen’s appointment, Steve Bunyard, currently the chief operating officer (COO) for Dublin Methodist and Grady Memorial, is being promoted to president of both hospitals, also effective January 12, 2015.

Bunyard joined OhioHealth in 2003 as vice president of operations at Doctors Hospital, and then moved to the OhioHealth Physician Group where he served as chief operating officer. From there, he moved into the COO role at Dublin and Grady in 2012.

“Steve has done an excellent job everywhere he’s been at OhioHealth,” said Louge. “His leadership skills, combined with his operations experience has prepared him well for this new challenge and we’re very excited to have him in this role.”

A search will begin immediately to identify a new COO for Dublin and Grady.
