Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closings and adjusted hours for City Offices during Christmas week:
City Hall
Many departments will be utilizing vacation time over the holiday period of December 24 – 26 and December 31 – January 2. Therefore, residents are highly encouraged to call and ensure the office relevant to their needs will be open. All offices will be closed on December 25, 26, and January 1. Visit www.marionohio.us for a complete list of business hours for each department in City Hall for the weeks of December 22 and December 29.
Sanitation
Sanitation collection will not take place on December 25 or January 1. For residents with Thursday sanitation service, please have collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Friday, December 26 and Friday, January 2. Crews will collect both Thursday and Friday’s refuse on each Friday. Sanitation crews will also begin collecting live Christmas trees on Monday, December 29. Live Christmas trees should be placed at curbside on the resident’s garbage day. Residents are asked to NOT wrap trees in plastic, as City crews will chip the trees at curbside for two weeks following Christmas.
Transit
Marion Area Transit will close at 12:00 p.m. on December 24 and will remain closed through December 26. On December 31, buses will operate normal hours and will then be closed January 1 and 2.
Senior Center
The Marion Senior Center will be closed on December 25 – 26, as well as December 31 – January 1.
Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.
Marion Public Health is announcing the following holiday schedule:
- Marion Public Health will close at noon on December 24th and remain closed on December 25th and December 26th. All divisions will reopen at 8:00 am.
- Marion Public Health will also be closed on January 1st for the New Year’s Day holiday.
The closing will affect all divisions of the Marion Public Health including the Administrative, Vital Statistics, Environmental Health, Nursing, Emergency Preparedness, and WIC divisions.
