The Marion City Police Department, Marion County Sheriff Office, and MARMET Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, said they have arrested two females in connection with local burglaries. The burglaries occurred in the City of Marion as well as Marion County.
In the early morning hours of December 29, 2014, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped Stephanie Malo and Rachel Young, both of Marion. Both were allegedly in possession of stolen items from recent Marion burglaries.
Malo and Young were held on charges out of Delaware County for a burglary in their area.
Detectives from the Marion Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office conducted interviews with the two women which they said lead to a search warrant in the 1400 block of Southland Parkway. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Counter Assault Team executed the search warrant.
Inside the apartment, detectives said they located stolen property, $1,102 in cash, and 16 doses of heroin.
Keith Cooper-Foster, 26, and Roland Hunt, 32, both of Detroit, MI, were arrested at the residence for possession of heroin and taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center to await formal charges.
Investigators said that Malo, 27, and Young, 24, are responsible for burglaries in the area of Vance’s Trailer Park and Brightwood Drive. Both are being held in Delaware County Jail. Malo initially faces one count of burglary while Young was arrested on six counts.
“The cooperation between Marion City Police, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office solved many burglaries today,” said Lt. Chris Adkins of the Marion Police Department. “These two women made many feel unsafe in their own homes.”
The investigation is ongoing and both departments said they are looking into other burglaries Malo and Young may have committed.
“Please make sure you lock your doors while sleeping at night and while you are away from your place of residence,” said Lt. Adkins. “Take extra precautions to insure your home is secure.“
