Financial aid representatives from The Ohio State University at Marion, Marion Technical College, and the I CAN Center of Excellence, an Ohio college access network program, will offer free college funding guidance to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) during a series of FAFSA Completion Sessions on the Marion campus and pre-designated locations throughout central and north-central Ohio.
Completion sessions will be held on the Marion Campus on the following dates:
- Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, 5-8 p.m. – Room 227
- Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Room 227
- Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, 5-8 p.m. – Room 230
- Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, 5-8 p.m. – Room 230
Completing the FAFSA by February 15, 2015 is critical to securing college funding for anyone considering attending a college in 2015-16 academic year. The FAFSA is used to determine the amount of money a family is expected to contribute to the price of attending a postsecondary institution. The results of the FAFSA are used in determining federal and state student grants, work study, and loan amounts, by colleges and universities across the United States.
All area FAFSA Completion Nights require students and parents to bring income and asset information to the session and representatives will provide assistance in filling out the online FAFSA form. Information concerning precise documentation to bring is available through your area high school or college financial aid office and listed on the Ohio State Marion website under the FAFSA registration link.
A college student’s financial aid package may consist of a combination of scholarships, grants, loans, and part-time work through the Federal Work Study program or other outside employment. The priority deadline to apply for maximum financial aid awards, including federal, state and institutional aid, is February 15, 2015 for students planning to attend an Ohio State regional campus during the 2015-2016 academic year, but may vary for other institutions.
Filing for financial aid does not obligate you to enroll, nor does it guarantee an award; it only begins the process of your financial planning in anticipation of your enrollment.
