Marion unemployment rate up in December

Marion County’s unemployment rate increased in December 2014 to 5.2 percent, up from 4.9 percent in November. The increase comes as 200 more people reported as being unemployed.

Counties surrounding Marion mostly saw increases in their rates as well. The exception was Delaware County whose rate dipped to 3.1 percent.

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.8 percent in December 2014, down from 5.0 percent in November 2014. The U.S. unemployment rate for December was 5.6 percent, down from 5.8 percent in November and down from 6.7 percent in December 2013.
