Patrol reports eight fatalities over New Year’s Holiday

Eight people were killed on Ohio’s roadways during the 2015 New Year’s Holiday, a five-day reporting period beginning December 31 at 12 a.m. and ending January 4 at 11:59 p.m.

This is a decrease from 2013, the most recent comparable reporting period of five-days, in which 12 people were killed.

During this year’s reporting period, troopers arrested 365 drivers for impaired driving. In addition, troopers cited 479 people with aggressive driving, arrested 183 motorists for drug-related offenses, and cited 982 people for safety belt violations.

There were 288 “incidents” in Marion County.
