The amount that can be contributed to candidates, political action committees and political parties increased Wednesday to account for inflation.
State law requires the secretary of state’s office to adjust campaign contribution limits for inflation in each odd-numbered year. Amounts were increased Wednesday by 3.1 percent — the change in the Consumer Price Index between 2012 and 2014. The new amounts are effective Wednesday through Feb. 24, 2017.
Individuals can now donate $12,532 to political action committees and campaigns for statewide offices and House and Senate seats, up from $12,155 during 2013-14. Individuals can now contribute $37,597 to state parties and $18,798 to legislative campaign funds.
State political parties can now contribute $706,823 to statewide candidates, up from $685,571 in 2013-14.
