The Marion Technical College (MTC) Board of Trustees announces that Dr. John Erwin will serve as interim president starting July 1. Dr. Erwin found out about the opportunity after his recent retirement from Illinois Central College, where he served as president for 14 years.
“Dr. Erwin has experience and integrity,” said Rex Parrott, Chairman of the Board of MTC Trustees. “He will help focus on student success and provide stable leadership in this time of transition.”
“I am honored to be chosen as interim president of Marion Technical College,” said Dr. Erwin.
“I will work to support staff and students while the presidential search is underway.”
Dr. Erwin has a Ph. D. from Indiana University in U.S History and American Studies as well as a Master’s of Divinity from Methodist Theological School in Ohio and is an ordained minister. In addition, he has a Master’s of Arts in United States History from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Religion from the University of Indianapolis.
Dr. Richard Bryson, the current president of MTC, is retiring on June 30 after 42 years of service. The search for the next full-time president will begin again in August. The Pauly Group is assisting the Board of Trustees with the presidential search. For more information, visit www.mtc.edu.
