The Marion Police Department says that a local drive-thru was robbed at gunpoint late Tuesday evening. An employee fired a shot at the suspect who is still at large.
At 11:00pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, police received a report of an armed robbery at Woody’s Drive-Thru, 566 Delaware Avenue.
Officers arrived in the area and obtained a description of a single male suspect who was described as follows; white male, approximately 6 feet tall, medium to slender build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black ski-mask, blue jeans and black shoes. Additionally, the suspect was in possession of a chrome pistol.
The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store brandishing the weapon, assaulted one of the employees and demanded money of the other employee. In the course of this incident, one of the store employees pulled a handgun, confronted the suspect and fired a single shot at the suspect.
“At this point, we have no reason to believe that the suspect was struck by the fired round” said Lt. B.J. Gruber of the Marion Police Department. “It is our hope that someone in the community recognizes the description or otherwise provides us with some useful information that helps bring this criminal to justice.”
The Marion Police Department was assisted by a K-9 Team with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office as well as Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
