Lori D. Seckel, regional director for Modern Woodmen, will lead local Modern Woodmen representatives and their families in a meal-packing event on Friday, September 25, 2015. The project will take place at First Church of the Nazarene, 233 W. Church Street, Marion, Ohio. Media participation is encouraged and appreciated.
“We’re excited to do our part to end hunger in our community,” said Seckel, who organized the event. “This is such an important project – I hope it drives others to contribute to their local food pantries and shelters.”
The event supports Modern Woodmen’s Knock Out Hunger campaign, a national effort to prepare and donate 500,000 meals throughout the country. Modern Woodmen’s Ohio Central Region has been tasked with packing 7,500 meals.
“It was truly shocking to learn of the food insecurity in Ohio. With Knock Out Hunger, Modern Woodmen can touch lives and secure futures in our region – and around the country – in a huge way,” said Seckel.
As a tax-exempt fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen sells life insurance, annuity and investment products not to benefit stockholders, but to improve the quality of life of its stakeholders – members, their families and their communities. This is accomplished through social, charitable and volunteer activities.
In 2014, Modern Woodmen and its members provided more than $19 million and nearly 437,000 volunteer hours for community projects nationwide.
