Showing for the first time at a theatre in Marion, the mystery drama film, “Mr. Holmes,” will play Friday, September 18, 2015 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the historic Marion Palace Theatre.
Mr. Holmes is a new twist on the world’s most famous detective. The story is set in 1947, as an aging Sherlock Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Haunted by an unsolved 30-year old case and grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved crime that forced him into retirement, while searching for answers to the mysteries of life and love – before it’s too late.
Starring Oscar nominated Best Actor Ian McKellen (Gandalf – The Lord of the Rings) as Sherlock Holmes, Milo Parker as Roger and Laura Linney as Mrs. Munro. This film is rated PG for thematic elements, some disturbing images and incidental smoking and runs 1 hour, 44 minutes.
Concessions will be available and are reasonably priced. Items available for purchase include candy bars for $1 each and 20 oz. Pepsi products, popcorn and boxed theatre candy for $2 each.
