UPDATE: The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office reports that Wilson was arrested Tuesday morning near the Delaware County Fairgrounds.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a male suspect who escaped from a juvenile detention facility on Mt. Vernon Avenue Monday. Sheriff Tim Bailey has identified the escapee as 16-year-old Michael Wilson.

Due to the escape, both River Valley and Pleasant school districts issued two hour delays for Tuesday.

During the escape, Sheriff Bailey said Wilson jumped the fence of the facility and then tried to grab a cell phone from a woman.

Sheriff Bailey said that Wilson was arrested in Delaware for crimes committed there, but was housed in Marion. Wilson has a long history of felonies, according to Bailey, including armed robbery, auto theft, felonious assault and aggravated assault.

Sheriff Bailey said he’s not sure if Wilson has had an opportunity to get a weapon, but stated that he should be considered very dangerous.

Wilson is described as a black male, 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He was last seen in gray sweatpants, a blue shirt around his waist and with black dreadlocks.

Anyone who sees an individual that matches this description is asked to call 911.
