Fall colors in full glory across the state

As autumn progresses, don’t forget to get out to a state park, nature preserve or forest to enjoy the many free amenities that they offer as well as the visual majesty that fall color provides. Peak conditions are now being seen throughout the state, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

“This coming weekend will be the best opportunity to get outside and see fall color at its peak across the Buckeye State,” said ODNR Fall Color Forester Casey Burdick. “Trees now showing their true colors include the hickory (golden hues), sassafras (oranges, reds and purples) and the yellow-poplar (yellows). Once the leaves start to change, the longevity of color depends on timing of strong winds and rains or a hard frost or freeze.”
