‘Christmas Vacation,’ Laurel & Hardy & Holiday Sing-A-Long at the Palace Theatre

The Palace Theatre will show the hilarious classic Christmas movie, National Lampoon’s ‘Christmas Vacation’ on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 7:30pm, Saturday, Dec 12 at 2pm and 7:30pm and Sunday, Dec 13 at 7:30pm. Released in 1989, generations of movie-goers can’t get enough of the Griswold family and their disastrous adventures. The Palace will also have holiday themed beverages available for purchase and also hold an Ugly Sweater contest before each showing.

‘Christmas Vacation’ stars Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Juliette Lewis, Johnny Galecki, John Randolph, Diane Ladd, Doris Roberts and Randy Quaid. This uncut version is rated PG-13. Movie admission is $4 all ages and $2 current PCAA members.

On Sunday afternoon, ‘A Wonderful Wurlitzer’ holiday sing-a-long is back by audience request. Organist Father Buffer will kick off the show and accompany the 1929 short silent film ‘Big Business’ starring Laurel & Hardy.

Following the movie, local organists will play a selection of favorite holiday tunes, both as solos and sing-a-longs, on the theatre’s Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. The organ houses more than 700 pipes, which create the sounds of a full orchestra including percussion instruments, bells, chimes, whistles and horns. Audience members can join in and sing along with the music or just sit back and savor the golden voice of the Mighty Wurlitzer. Donations will be received for the organ repair fund.

For all theatre events, concession items are available for patrons: $1 candy bars, Brenda’s Cookies, hot chocolate and $2 for bottled soda, popcorn and boxed theatre candy.
